The member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Umar Baba Jibril is dead.

Aged 58 years, Jibril, a three-time member of the house, died in the early hours of Friday in Abuja.
The ELITES learnt that Hon. Jibril died at age 57 after a brief illness at an Abuja hospital.

One of his political associates, Mr Amuda Dan Sulaiman confirmed the death to journalists.

Until his death, Jubril was the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. He was also a former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

One of the most influential members of the House, Jibrin, who is also known to wield a lot influence in Kogi politics, sponsored what was tagged the anti-NGO bill.

Meanwhile, Speaker Yakubu Dogara has reacted to Jibrin’s death, describing him as an “upright man, a leader per -excellence, a patriotic, committed and hardworking  lawmaker and worthy representative”.
Jibrin a former Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly was also described as highly transparent by House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila.
” He was the Deputy House Leader and we sat next to each other daily on the floor almost 3years.
” Buba, as we fondly call him was a very transparent man a rare characteristic in any politician.
“He was transparent to a fault and very principled. I went to  see him just over a week ago in hospital and we were informed he was doing well and would be discharged.
“I had looked forward to his resumption but alas!!! I will miss Buba and my heart thoughts and prayers go out to his family”, Gbajabiamila stated.
