Supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari have paid for and obtained the expression of interest and nomination forms valued at N45 million for the president.

Members of the group under the aegis of Nigeria Consolidation Ambassador Network were received by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, at the party’s national secretariat, in Abuja, Punch reports.

National coordinator of the group, Sunnisi Musa, said President Buhari certainly did not have the cash but that he has enough goodwill which members of the group were at the APC Secretariat to prove.

Recall that despite Buhari expressing worry that he cannot afford a speculated N55 million payment for the expression of interest and the presidential nomination form for his party, APC pegged the form for presidential aspirants at N45 million.

According to a statement issued by the party on Tuesday, the expression of interest form for presidential aspirants goes for N5 million while the nomination form attracts a princely N40 million.

For Governorship aspirants, they are to cough out,  N22.5M. A breakdown shows that  N2.5 million is for expression of interest form and N20 million for the nomination form.

Others are Senate N7 million, House of Representatives N3.850 million and State House of Assembly N850,000.

Its a long held tradition for parties to give female aspirants free nomination forms, but for female APC aspirants and people living with disabilities, they are to pay 50 percent of the prescribed fee for each position.

Recall also that Buhari told the National Working Committee members of the party that N55 million is too high for him.

The President had four years ago complained over the N27.5 million nomination forms for the presidential ticket and had argued that if he had his way, he would have ensured downward review of  cost. He never explained how eventually paid for the forms.
