The organisers of the Headies, have announced the list of nominees for its 17th edition, with American singer Chloe Bailey securing a nomination in the International Artiste of the Year category.
The 2025 edition is scheduled for Lagos on April 5, 2025. This signals the return of the Headies to Nigeria after the previous edition was held in the United States.
Bailey, whose relationship with Nigerian music star Burna Boy was recently made public, earned a spot on the list for her collaboration on Vision Remix with rising Afrobeats singer Qing Madi.
She faces stiff competition from an impressive lineup of global stars, including Wale for Blood on the Dance Floor with Odumodublvck, Skepta for Tony Montana featuring Portable, Chris Brown for Hmmm with Davido, and Travis Scott for Active with Asake.
According to the Headies, the category is voting-based and is designated to celebrate a non-African artist or group with the most outstanding achievements and impact on Afrobeats.
The Headies, in a statement, stated that music materials released between April 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024, were considered for nominations.
“Only music materials including singles, videos, video live recordings, EPs & albums released & distributed on digital streaming platforms, & physical music media within the year in review (April 1, 2023 & July 31,2024) were considered for nomination.”
