From Nsisong Morgan, Akwa Ibom
Ahead of the 2019 general election, the Ukanafun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chapter Chairman Mr. Magnus Akpan has called on Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) for prompt release of Permanent Voter’s Card PVC to Ukanafun people even as he enjoin the residents who are eighteen years and above to register so as to enable them to exercise their franchise.
He made the call shortly after presenting the party membership cards and register to the ward chairmen and secretaries.

He said, “Most of my people are complaining that the Akwa Ibom state Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) have not distributed their PVC and we all know that without the PVC you cannot vote, also those that are eighteen years and above should please ensure that they register for their PVC”
Akpan who expressed dismay over slow release of the cards, called on eligible voters who had registered to get their own as it is the only way they would exercise their franchise in 2019.
In his response to trends of mass defection from All Progressives Congress, APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he disclosed that PDP in Ukanafun LGA has begun mass registration of party faithful and validation of old members.
He expressed satisfaction that the mass exodus from APC to PDP is a plus for the party in the State and urged the leadership of the ward to register those who have come to the party for the registration.
The Chapter Chairman expressed optimism that the party will take over government at the centre in 2019, following the current development in recent times where many National Assembly members and three governors have defected to the former ruling party.
He also said that the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and the State Party Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo have the interest of the Party at heart, thus, the need for continued support by faithful.
Some of the Party leaders in their separate response, promised to embark on mass registration of members at the ward level. While calling for funding of Party Offices across the State, they promised to deliver the State for the party in 2019 general election.
Frontline News Online gathered that all the chairmen and secretaries in the eleven wards in Ukanafun attended the meeting and they equally received the membership cards and party register for the registration of members.
