Confirming the sad incident toย Tribune Online, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the man who was seen naked, โcame to the bankโs branch in Sango and entered the buildingย through its small gate,โ as he said โpeople who saw him thought he was a mad man.โ
โIt was after he gained entrance into the bankโs premisesย that he climbed the bankโs ย mast ย before the security personnel ย became aware of his action,โ Fadeyi said.
The PPRO informed that โthe man had already climbed the mast to its peak, before the people alerted the police, but before anything could be done, though the police responded immediately, the victim had jumped downย to the roof of the bank.
โThe District Police Officer (DPO) and Fire Service personnelย who arrived the scene of the incident were swift to safe the manโs life, but the impact was so much that he crashedย through the roof and fell inside the bank.
โThe police asked an official of the bank to open the premises, and when they gained entry,ย he was already bleeding from his mouth and nose, and by the time he was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), he was confirmed dead on arrival,โโ Fadeyi said.
The PPROย said the corpse had been deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital for autopsy while efforts were on ย to ascertain his identity.
