Controversial musician, Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has reacted to speculations that his bullying of his former signee at Marlian Records, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad led to his death.
Naira Marley denied having a hand in Mohbad’s death in a statement shared on his Instagram handle on Tuesday.
Despite being accused absconding from the country, due to the outcry of fans following Mohbad’s death, Naira Marley said he plans to return to Nigeria to assist the police with its investigation into the death of his former signee.
Naira Marley is speaking exactly two weeks after Mohbad was reported dead at the age of 27 in Lagos State.
He was buried on September 13. But amid protests by fans, the Lagos State Police Command commenced an investigation into Mohbad’s death, even as his remains were exhumed for an autopsy.
The Lagos State Police Command last Thursday confirmed the conclusion of the autopsy.
The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed that the autopsy was being conducted saying, “Mohbad’s corpse has been exhumed and medical experts have successfully concluded the autopsy on the corpse tonight. Our concern as the police is the outcome of the autopsy, as we’re expecting the result soon.”
But in the statement on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Naira Marley debunked claims that he had a hand in Mohbad’s death.
He said: “Permit me to categorically state that I have no hand in the death of Ilerioluwa, either directly or indirectly. It is not unusual in the industry, just like in several other industries, to have family friction, even amongst blood relatives.”
