Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido has recanted his harsh criticism of the Osun State Commissioner of Police, acknowledging the efforts of security agencies in managing the crisis that erupted in the state.
In the heat of the bloody crisis rocking Osun, the singer had slammed the commissioner, accusing him of taking sides.
But the Grammy nominee has recanted in a statement shared via X. Davido in a new tweet said that upon further review, there were “genuine efforts” by the commissioner to contain the crisis.
He explained that his initial outburst was driven by anger over the “needless killings” that occurred in the state.

He wrote: “In memories of the innocent souls lost, human emotions overwhelmed me and many of my friends around. We did not know the Commissioner of Police had been having sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At this point, the contributions of the police commissioner were not fully appreciated by me. This is a grave oversight and I want to declare that his support for rule of law and protection of peace in Osun state is hereby acknowledged and appreciated,” Davido stated.
He went on to commend the commissioner for his dedication and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent further violence, particularly as the state prepares for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025.
“In memory of the dead and the injured, I urge the security agencies including the Commissioner of Police to redouble their efforts to sustain peace. We must allow rule of law to prevail,” he added.
