JUST IN: Reps Speaker Inaugurates 21-Man C’ttee To Oversee Rivers Assembly

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has inaugurated an ad-hoc committee to act as the legislative arm during the 6-month suspension of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The inauguration which took place in the National Assembly Complex, Abuja had in attendance, members of the House selected from the six geo-political zones.

Addressing the 21-man committee, Speaker Abbas urged the committee to be non-partisan, and to legislate on the good governance, peace, and prosperity of the oil-rich state.

He said, “Your task is to oversee Rivers State following Mr President’s emergency proclamation.You must not be partisan or biased.”

The House Majority Leader who doubles as the Chairman of the Committee, Prof Julius Ihonvbere, led the members of the committee including, Ali Isah (PDP, Gombe) who is the Deputy Chairman, Idris Wase (North Central), Aliyu Muktar (North East), Sada Soli (North West), Iduma Igariwey (South East), and Shehu Rijau.

Others members of the committee include Akara hi Amadi, Patrick Umoh, Wole Oke and Isa Anka.
