Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan died earlier today at age 71.
Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, reigned supreme as the wrestling champion in the ’80s and ’90s. His long reign in the ring made him a global celebrity.
Fans, including top celebrities across the globe have taken turns to eulogise Hogan. WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, despite having a complicated relationship with Hogan, said he was “the greatest WWE Superstar of all time”, and calls him a “global phenomenon”.
For wrestling legend Ric Flair he said, Hogan’s friendship “meant the world to me”, adding: “Hulkster, no one will ever compare to you”.
For another macho-man and actor, Sylvester Stallone, who acted alongside Hogan in Rocky III, he said the wrestler was “absolutely wonderful and his amazing skill made Rocky three incredibly special”
President Donald Trump who Hogan supported to return to the White House sent his condolences to Hogan’s family, saying he was “MAGA all the way – Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart”.
However, Hogan will also be remembered for his controversies, such as being caught saying a racist slur on tape, and taking aim at Kamala Harris during the 2024 election campaign.
