The Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in the country after winning the Womenโs Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.ย
The team landed with the trophy at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja around 2:10 pm on Monday.
On Saturday, the Falcons produced a dramaticย 3-2 victory over Moroccoย to win the continental crown for the 1oth time.
Jennifer Echegini scored the all-important winning goal as the Super Falcons of Nigeria came from two goals down to win the final.
The Falcons are expected to have an open-bus parade around the capital city with the newly won trophy.
The victory parade route will take the players through Airport Road, the Berger junction, the Maitama and Wuse Market areas, and finally to the Presidential Villa.
President Bola Tinubu will then host the players and officials after the parade concludes.
The Falconsโ triumph in Morocco was accompanied by numerous accolades, as Rasheedat Ajibade, the teamโs captain, was named the player of the tournament.
