
โขSanwo-Olu, Dangote, global leaders to address participants
Lagos State, Nigeriaโs city of aquatic splendour, will host the Africa Blue Economy tomorrow, October 3. The landmark event will position Lagos and Nigeria as African leaders in the Blue Economy.
The summit, with “Harnessing Africaโs Blue Natural Capital for Sustainable Growth” as its theme, will be held at Azuri Towers, Eko Atlantic City. The event will be attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; President of the Didier Drogba Foundation and Co-Founder of E1 Team Drogba, Mr Didier Drogba; Founder and President/Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank, Prof. Benedict Oramah; CEO and Co-Founder of the E1 Series, Mr Rodi Basso; and other national, Africa and global leaders who will address participants on various topics.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, and Chairman of the Technical and Operations Committee of the E1 Lagos GP, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the summit will deliver concrete pathways for transforming Africaโs ocean and freshwater resources into sustainable engines for growth, combining vision-setting with actionable commitments.
He said: “The Africa Blue Economy Summit โ Lagos 2025 is the catalyst, and it signals Africaโs leadership in blue carbon, regenerative economic growth, sustainable fisheries, ocean waste-to-value innovation, and coastal protection, positioning Lagos as the continental hub for innovation, investment, and collaboration.
“It will convene Africaโs leaders, scientists, investors, entrepreneurs, and youth around a shared vision for a thriving, inclusive, and resilient Blue Economy. It positions Africaโs marine and coastal natural capital not only as a critical ecological asset but also as a strategic economic resource for climate adaptation, job creation, and regional prosperity.
“As one of the core pillars of the Blue Economy Summit, the Thought Leadership Forum will anchor the eventโs intellectual and strategic agenda. This forum will provide a high-level platform for policymakers, global ocean experts, financiers, innovators, and community leaders to share insights, challenge assumptions, and co-develop pathways for scaling Africaโs blue economy.”
