
The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers, GOCOP, on Wednesday, elected Danlami Nmodu mni, as president of the Guild for an initial two-year term.
He was elected alongside six other members of the national executive.
Nmodu takes over from Maureen Chigbo, the Publisher of Realnews Magazine, who served a two-term tenure of four years.
Nmodu who is the Publisher of NewsDiaryOnline.com, emerged at the 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Guild held at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, after a virtual and physical voting process which saw him receiving 63 votes while his opponent, the Publisher of World Stage,com, who scored 18 votes.
Before voting, both candidates presented their manifestos to members, who later cast their votes in a peaceful and orderly manner.
Chairman of the electoral committee, Yusuf Ozi-Usman, declared Nmodu the winner of the election after the collation of results.
Ozi-Usman also declared the other members of the new national executive duly elected through an affirmative vote. They include the Publisher of Qed.ng, Olumide Iyanda, who was elected as Vice President, Publisher of The Conclave, Sufuyan Ojeifo, who was elected as General Secretary, Akeem Oyetunji, the Publisher of Prompt News, was elected as Deputy Secretary-General, Ngozi Onyekusi, the Publisher of SuperNews.ng was elected as Treasurer, Moses Ebosele, Publisher of City Business News was elected as Financial Secretary and Frontline News Online. Publisher, Kemi Yesufu was elected as Publicity Secretary.
