The trial of two suspected killers of an Abuja-based Businessman, late Chinedu Eze, got stalled on Tuesday
at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Jabi, following the absence of the defence counsel.
Two suspects, George Eze, 48 years, and Victor Nweze, 19 years were dragged before the court, presided over
by Justice M.S. Idris, for allegedly killing, late Eze, a popular stationery shop owner in Bwari Area Council in the FCT.
The suspects were charged with a six-count charge of
culpable homicide, unlawful killing, illegal conversion of a deceased shop, among others, contrary to sections 97, 221, and 310 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
However, when the matter came up for the continuation of the hearing, the defence counsel to the suspects, nor their clients, were in the court.
The Prosecuting Counsel from the Police Headquarters, Abuja, Barrister Stanley Nwodo, told the court that the matter was stated for the continuation of the hearing and disclosed that the defence team was not present and had not communicated any reason for their absence.
The presiding Justice Idris adjourned the matter to 10/11/2025 for the continuation of the hearing.
