Celibacy not optional, Pope says

Pope Francis on Monday said celibacy for priests is a “gift to the Church” and not “optional”, nixing the prospect of married men being ordained.

“Personally I think that celibacy is a gift to the Church,” the Punch quoted the pope as telling journalists aboard his plane, while returning to the Vatican from Panama.
