Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Army and frontline gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rep. Abdulrazak Namdas has announced that he is still in the race for the governorship ticket of the ruling party in Adamawa State.
TThe lawmaker debunked claims that he has withdrawn from the race.
The APC governorship primaries are billed to hold on Thursday, May 26 across the nation.
Namdas, in a statement shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening, said “Dear Delegates, tomorrow (Thursday) is the ‘D’ day. I am fully in the race for the office of Governor of Adamawa State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Please disregard any news that claims I have stepped down. It is FAKE NEWS.
“It is going to be a contest and we are not afraid of it. It is God that gives power. All that we are asking from our party is to conduct a free and fair election and we have been assured of it. Pls vote for me”.
Namdas, who is a second-timer in the House, represents Jada/Ganye/Mayo Belwa/ Toungo federal constituency of Adamawa State and was the chairman of the House committee on media and public affairs in the 8th Assembly.
He is said to be a grassroots politician who is loved across the state, especially among the youths, women and the elderly.
Namdas is billed to face other five aspirants who have been cleared by the APC to contest in the Thursday’s primary including former Governor Jibrilla Bindow, former EFCC chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and chairman of the Senate committee on sustainable development goals, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani).
