AFCON 2023: Ghana FA Sacks Hughton As Black Stars Coach

The fallout of Ghana’s exit from the African Cup of Nations continues with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) sacking coach Chris Hughton after their group-stage exit.

The Black Stars finished on two points in Group B, drawing 2-2 with both Egypt and Mozambique following a 2-1 defeat by Cape Verde in their opener.

Ghanaian fans many of whom have decried their early exit had slim hopes of advancing as one of four best-ranked third placed sides, but their team crashed out on Tuesday when results went against them.

Following the team’s exit, the GFA announced that Hughton, who had been appointed as Ghana head coach in February last year, has been relieved of his duties.
