Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro is displaying confidence ahead of his team’s match with the Palancas Negras of Angola at the ongoing AFCON 2023 in Abidjan this evening, saying, he no longer bothers about criticism.
Peseiro who spoke at a pre-match press conference said he has long outgrown being sad about criticism.
He said: “I don’t think about criticism again. If it was 20 years ago, I would have been affected by what the fans are saying about me,” the Portuguese told a press conference.
“But at this moment of my career, I’m 63-years old now, I have taken too much vaccine for good.
”There is always the good and bad media. The key thing is to maintain balance. Coaches will always be criticised. Everyone cannot speak well about me like I’m god or superhuman.”
Nigerian fans across the globe had cause to crticise Peseiro over earlier performances of the Super Eagles.
He criticised by football fans and pundits in the build up to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles failed to record a win in their opening two games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The West Africans also lost 2-0 to Guinea in a friendly few days to the start of AFCON 2023 finals.
