A moment of sloppy goalkeeping from Victor Nwabali saw Benin Republic score Nigeria through Mohammed Tijani in the 16th minute of the first half of the AFCON qualifier played in Cote D’ Ivoire.
Tijani’s goal took the sting off the Super Eagles’ play as Victor Osimhen missed a clear change the 41st minute of the first half.
The second half saw Nigeria’s coach Austin Eguavoen makes changes by bringing in Moses Simon and Victor Boniface.
When it seems all hope was lost Osimhen connected an excellent cross from Simon to score in the 80th minute. Nigeria needed a draw to top the group.
