Akpabio suffers shock defeat as PDP’s Ekpenyong is declared winner

Former Senate Minority Leader Senator Godswill Akpabio, representing the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district in the Senate, has lost his reelection bid.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chris Ekpenyong, polled 136, 373 votes to defeat Akpabio, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 67, 487 votes in the Saturday’s Senatorial election at Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district.
