Political leaders of Idemili South local government area of Anambra State have endorsed Dr. Obiora Okonkwo of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for the November 6 governorship election in the state.
Thay also vowed to stand solidly with him to make sure he clinched the top job.
The leaders made this public during a meeting of the ZLP in Idemili South LG and wards at the residence of Chief John Okigbo, a scion of the very influential Okigbo dynasty of Ojoto.
Addressing the audience, Chief Okigbo reminded the ZLP members and leadership of the need to close ranks and remain focused on the November 6 goal.
He said “Dr. Obiora Okonkwo stands shoulder taller than all other candidates in the race” adding that “his integrity is incomparable.”
According to Chief Okigbo, the people of Anambra state have a lot to gain voting in Dr. Okonkwo to lead them into a new wave of properity.
He said “Dr. Okonkwo will lead Anambra to a whole new level of prosperity because he is well prepared for the challenges ahead for the state”.
Speaking also at the event, Chairman of ZLP in the state, Chief Uche Ugwuoji, urged people of the state to remain steadfast in the task to redirect affairs of the state for the good of all.
Stating that Dr. Okonkwo has the capacity to lead Anambra in a positive direction, the ZLP boss said “all the other parties have failed woefully”.
According to him “Anambra had experimented with PDP and it failed. We have experimented with APGA for 16 years and it has rather taken our dear state back 16 years. Now, Anambra people yearn for something different and ZLP offers them that which they seek”.
Chief Ugwuoji, who expressed deep confidence about the prospects of ZLP winning the governorship election on November 6, said “ZLP is now the darling of Anambra people. Everyone is looking forward to Dr. Okonkwo and ZLP to change the sorry story of our state”.
Also speaking at the event, chairman of ZLP in Idemili South, Chief Chuks Enwenye said the party is firmly rooted and ready to confine APGA to the dustbin of history.
According to him “the most unique thing in this race is that ZLP has the best and most qualified candidate who is focused and deeply prepared to govern. All others are running behind and trying to play catch-up because they know that Dr. Okonkwo is unbeatable; he is not a hard sell”.
