Ayra Starr, the award-winning Nigerian singer, has responded to rumours about the “strict conditions” tied to her new management deal with Roc Nation, the record label owned by American rap icon Jay-Z.
The ‘Rush’ hitmaker recently signed with the global entertainment company to expand her international reach.
Her profile has since been added to Roc Nation’s official website, confirming the partnership.
However, shortly after the announcement, reports surfaced claiming that her contract included extreme restrictions such as bans on dating, social media freedom, and starting a family during the five-year deal.
“Stipulations of this deal are crazy. One of the stipulations in her deal is that she is not allowed to have a boyfriend during the five-year contract,” a podcaster claimed.
“She’s also not allowed to choose collaborations without Roc Nations approval. Post anything on social media without permission. Dress or speak publicly in ways that go against the labels image plan. She’s also not allowed to start a family during the five-year term.”
Ayra Starr humorously addressed the rumours via X, subtly hinting that the claims were “false”.
“Does Ayra Starr know about this ?” she wrote.
