African basketball champions, Nigeria’s D’Tigress, shocked the world with 75-62 win over the highly rated Australian team.
Aside from beating Australia which is ranked 3rd best in the world by FIBA, this is the first time D’Tigress won an Olympic since 20 years ago.
In what has been described as the biggest upset of the Olympics so far, Nigeria stunned the Opals.
The Rena Wakama tutored team put up a bold performance to beat the Australians 75-62 at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium.
It was the team’s first win in an Olympic match since Athens 2004.
