The Senator Douye Diri Campaign Organization has called on Nigerians to ignore allegations being peddled against the Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu Brown by Nabena Yekini, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress.
The Director of Media and Publicity of the SDD Campaign Organization, Dr. Jonathan Obuebite, expressed shock at a news report attributed to Mr. Yekini that the Governor and his Deputy Chief of Staff were producing fake voters card in Bayelsa ahead of the November 16, gubernatorial election.
Obuebite said that while it would have been proper to, once again, ignore the hallucinations of Nabena, it is important to react in order to avoid falling into the trap of the popular axiom that when lies are repeated and are unchallenged, they seem to share a boundary with the truth.
He said that the APC Deputy Publicity Secretary was a victim of his own imagination which according to him had pushed him into delusion.
The Publicity Director said that a responsible politician occupying the position of the Deputy National Chairman of the ruling party in possession of a genuine and grave Information of such a magnitude should have alerted security agencies and the police to take prompt action in the interest of the general good rather than going to the media to scream inanities.
He recalled that the same Yekini who was arrested with firearms at Odi and was released by the soldiers at the prompting of their superiors on February 23, 2019, made a wild allegation recently that the governor spent N17.5 billion on politicians in two weeks without any proof.
According to Obuebite, Yekini, who is not known in his native Bayelsa State beyond the time he was a driver to a former PDP Chieftain, Chief George Fente, made yet another ludicrous attempt to cover up his status as a political waste to the APC when he went to the media to announce that the governor was stockpiling arms.
According to Obuebite, wild, imagined, and unsubstantiated allegations involving arms, funds, permanent voters cards have become the common features of the lies by APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary in the weeks immediately preceding the elections as shown by his rants before the last general election which his party lost.
Obuebite described Yekini as a politician with an image leprosy constantly being threatened by his unpopularity and political rejection in his country home.
The Campaign Spokesman explained that Nabena called the Deputy Chief òf Staff who is from his Ward in Odoni/Aduku Ward 8, Sagbama Local Government Area, to have a deal with her on the permanent voters cards in the area being aware of his lack of political clout and unpopularity among his people.
Obuebite said that Mrs. Ebizi Ndiomu-Brown’s expression of shock and her polite response that the PVCs were not supposed to be in the custody of politicians but with the owners pushed Nabena to address a press conference where he spewed lies and unprintable allegations against the Governor and the woman.
Obuebite advised Nabena to devote his creative energy to curing the noticeable communication cholera affecting him and doing more harm than good to his party rather than the fruitless effort to raise false alarm to no reasonable objective.
He said that the PDP which has ruled Bayelsa since 1999 was aware of the importance of sustained electoral campaign for its desired victory and would not distracted by the APC’s swan song.
He called on Bayelsans and Nigerians to ignore Nabena’s allegations, which he described as the product of a mind troubled by the inevitability of an impending political defeat adding that the PDP did not need fake voters cards to win the next election.
He called on security agencies to investigate Nabena and his party, the APC, which controls the Federal Government and which awards the contracts for the production of the PVCs.
