President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have expressed sadness at the news of the death of a former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Adamu Ciroma.
In a statement by Buhariโs Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President condoled the Ciroma family as well as the government and people of Yobe State on the death of the elder statesman.
President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, described the death of former Minister of Finance and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Adamu Ciroma, as monumental loss to the country.
Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu in Abuja, said with the death of Ciroma, Nigeria has lost one of its illustrious sons and highly respected elder statesman, with vast experience in many spheres of life.

โAlthough death is painful, but it gladdens my heart that late Ciroma lived a worthy and successful life,” Saraki said. โAs a public servant, late Ciromaโs integrity was unparalleled, as a politician, he was unblemished and as a journalist, he was among the finest breed.”
He added: โIndeed there is no word or adjective that will be enough to describe late Ciroma, considering his invaluable contributions to the development of the country.
โWe have lost a detribalized Nigerian, bridge builder and a strong pillar for nationโs unity. He will surely be remembered for his forthrightness and integrity. We shall miss him greatly.”
On his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Yakubu Dogara expressed sadness over Ciroma’s death.
The Speaker noted that the late elder statesman was an โicon of transparency and an epitome of integrity who lived an incorruptible life.โ
The Speaker, in a statement, described the late Malam Adamu Ciroma as one of the nation’s shining stars and a frontlineย states man who demonstrated passion for the unity,ย progress and development of Nigeria.
