Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yomi Osinbajo have expressed their delight following the Super Eagles’ 2-0 win against Iceland in their second Group D game at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup clash on Friday.

Ahmed Musa was the hero for the Super Eagles as his double in the second half secured the important win.

Musa’s goals mean he is the first Super Eagles player to score at two different World Cups.

“President Muhammadu Buhari heartily congratulates the Super Eagles on their victory Friday over the national team of Iceland in their second match at the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup,” the President’s senior media aide Shebi Garba tweeted.

“According to him, ‘I am confident that if our players believe in themselves, they can qualify out of their difficult group and even go very far in the tournament,” adding that “with determination, nothing is impossible.’”

“Two Goals!!! We are winning this. Bring it home our Super Eagles,” Professor Osinbajo was quoted on his verified Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has hailed the Super Eagles over their win over IceLand in the ongoing World Cup mundial in Russia.

He said with this win, the national team has put smiles once more on the faces of Nigerians after their disappointing outing against Croatia.

While urging them to maintain the fire displayed by the team in the second half of the game, he assured them of the support of Nigerians across the globe.

“Nigerians were full of expectation of victory and did not give up on you after the initial disappointment and you delivered!

I urge you to now prove why you are called the Super Eagles’ in your next game against Argentina. Do us proud!,” he charged.
