The member representing Ehime-Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency, Rep. Chike Okafor has commended the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma on his courage in the face of daunting challenges as well as his visionary leadership and developmental strides.
According to the former chairman, House Committee on Health Services, Sen. Uzodimma has displayed unusual courage at a very trying time in the history of Imo State, yet providing leadership and proving pundits wrong.
Okafor, a former Commissioner of Finance and ranking member of the House, made this assertion, in a chat with newsmen in Owerri, recently.
He said: “The signs are obvious that Imo is back in contention as a State to be identified with, in the comity of states in Nigeria, following the official visit of President Mohammadu Buhari to the state, scheduled for 9th September 2021.”
“This visit would mark the very first time in 13 years that a Commander In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be coming to Imo State on a working visit.
“It is a fact that the last President that came to Imo on an official working visit was the late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua, and it is expected that this visit will usher in a new lease of life to Imo State and Southeast in general”.
He stated further that; “It is our hope, and as is usually the case with such visits, that the President will make further commitments/ announcement with respect to new, and emerging federal projects, and/or additional funding for the completion of existing/ongoing ones, not only in Imo, but in the entire Southeast region”.
He used the opportunity to charge all Imolites, and South Easterners to shun politics, and political inclinations, and rally round the Governor, and the Government of Imo, to give Mr. President a resounding reception, noting that this is not just about Gov. Uzodimma, but about Ndi Imo, and Ndi Igbo.
Okafor congratulated the Imo State Governor Sen. Hope Uzodimma for his effort to return Imo State to her pride of place, in Nigeria, against all odds.
