Grammy award winner, Chris Brown, has been charged to court over allegations of attacking a DJ an a UK nightclub.
Brown who is celebrated for his excellent singing and dancing skills singer was apprehended on May 15 in Manchester and he was charged with “grievous bodily harm with intent” in connection with a February 2023 incident in London, the Metropolitan Police said in a May 15 press release.
A Manchester judge ruled that Brown will remain in custody until June 13, the U.K. Press Association confirmed. TMZ reported that the alleged incident took place at a nightclub where the R&B singer attacked the victim with a bottle, citing law enforcement sources.
Grievous bodily harm with intent—which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison—means the assailant intentionally caused serious, but not necessarily permanent, harm, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The ‘No Air’ singer who is scheduled to perform 10 shows through June and July in Britain as part of his upcoming world tour—was arrested at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester shortly after 2 a.m., the Metropolitan Police shared in a statement.
Brown who had a sell-out tour in South Africa’s arrest comes over two years after music producer Abe Diaw accused him of an unprovoked attack at Mayfair’s Tape nightclub, where he said Brown struck him with a bottle as well as punched and kicked him.
“He hit me over the head two or three times,” Diaw told The Sun. “My knee collapsed as well.”
