A Magistrate’s Court in Kuje, Abuja, has granted bail to Sahara Reporters publisher and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore; Aloy Ejimakor, a member of the legal team representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu; the IPOB leader’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu.
Also granted bail on Friday were ten others, for ₦500,000, bail with two sureties in like sum.

Recall that Sowore was among the organisers of the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest that took place on Monday, Oct. 20.
In the course of the protest, 12 persons including Kanu’s younger brother, Emmanuel, and one of his lawyers, Alloy Ejimakor, were arrested and subsequently remanded at the Kuje prison.
Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin had explained why Sahara Reporters publisher. Omoleye Sowore was arrested by the police at the Federal Hight Court Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking at a media briefing, Hundeyin said, the former presidential candidate was arrested to ensure that justice is evenly applied to everyone involved.
Hundeyin said, “If we move from there to charge some people to court and leave the person who led them to commit that act, more like their leader, the elite protester who told them and took them into the restricted area, that would not be fair. And that’s why, in the spirit of fair play and to ensure that justice is served, Omoyele Sowore was arrested today.”

He further explained that Sowore would not be detained beyond necessary legal limits and would be arraigned today.
He said, “Like the others, he wouldn’t spend time with us. He wouldn’t spend up to 24 hours with us. Once we wrap up the charges, he’s going to be prosecuted. In fact, if everything goes right, our plan is to ensure that he’s prosecuted today. He goes to court today.”
