Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State announced on Monday the death of five coronavirus patients in the state, The PUNCH reports.
He stated that the dead persons were 60 years old and above.
While giving out the details via Twitter, the governor said one of the fatalities was recorded at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital while the remaining four were reported at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.
Obaseki added that 13 patients have recovered from the virus following treatment and have been discharged.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, 401 infections have been reported in the state including 109 recoveries and 24 fatalities.
