COVID-19: Gombe chief whip, four others test positive

A member representing Balanga North Local Government Area in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Musa Buba, has said five of the 24 members of the Assembly including himself have tested positive for coronavirus.

Buba, who is also the Chief Whip of the Assembly, disclosed this on Monday through his verified Facebook account.

This result is sequel to a directive by Governor Inuwa Yahaya for government officials to go for test following the confirmation that a Director in the Government House, Shuaibu Danlami, died of coronavirus.

He wrote, “I’m COVID-19 positive.

“The results of our COVID 19 test are out. Out of the 24 members of the Gombe State House of Assembly, five of us are positive.

“I strongly advise that we strictly adhere to the guidelines of health workers (physical distancing, using of face mask, regular washing of hands especially with sanitisers, etc) for our collective good.”

The Chairman of the state Task Force on COVID-19, Idris Mohammed, confirmed the development in a text to our correspondent.
