The Embassy of the state of Israel and the Jewish Community in Nigeria has donated food item to some Muslim groups and vulnerable Nigerians as part of its support to Nigeria cushion the effect of Covid-19 lockdown.
In a statement signed by the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Shimon Ben- Shoshan while presenting the items says the gesture was part of the humanitarian activities of the Chabadaid which cuts across different sectors.
The statement states that following the challenges confronting the globe and the vulnerable people are the most worst hit, hence the need to support the Islamic society, and widows to alleviate their plight.
“The mission is from the Jewish community in different parts of the world who are committed to supporting Nigerians especially the Muslims during Ramadan” Ben- Shoshan stresses
Receiving the packages, the Chairman of the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society’s Food Bank Programme, Alhaji Farouk Suleiman, commends the Israeli group for reaching out to the society which traditionally supports vulnerable groups regardless of their faith, during Ramadan.
‘We thank the Chabadaid group and the Muslim community for this gesture to the Food Bank, this will go a long way in helping us to reach out to more vulnerable families during this lockdown” Sulieman states
It commends the Jewish Community Chief Imam of the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society Imam, Fuad Adeyemi for recognizing the bond between Muslims, Christians and the Jews as part of the Abrahamic faith, saying this will foster more understanding and tolerance between the faiths.
Items donated are Noodles, face masks, cooking oil, beans, rice, toys, sanitizers, toothbrushes and pastes.
