Chelsea FC has started the 2025 season on a wobbly note. To the huge disappointment of fans, Crystal Palace held the World Cup champions to a goalless draw.

Enzo Maresca’s side was simply unable to break down a tough Crystal Palace defense,

Chelsea may have recorded a win if players like Trevor Chalobah, Estevao, Marc Cucurella, and Liam Delap, among others, had converted their chances.

However, Crystal Palace were also grateful for a VAR check after Eberechi Eze’s free-kick was ruled out, with Marc Guehi adjudged to have infringed as the forward struck his shot.

Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards, speaking to Sky Sports said he team was disappointed.

He said: “No, we didn’t. We were pretty disappointed. I think everybody in the stadium thought it was a goal and somehow VAR saw something else.

“You live and die by VAR. Today we died by it. But regardless, it was a good free kick and hopefully we get a few more of those.”
