A former member of the House of Representatives who represented Ika Federal Constituency, Dr Cairo Ojougboh, is dead.
According to reports Ojougboh who was also a member of the board of the Niger-Delta Development Commission (NDDC), slumped and died during the semi-final encounter between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and South-Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Cairo was aged 65, having been born on September 8, 1958 in Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Conclave.ng reports that the ex lawmaker slumped and died on Wednesday night while watching the semi final match between the Nigeria and South Africa.
An unconfirmed report said that Ojougboh died when a penalty was awarded against Nigeria that resulted in the South Africa’s equalizer in the 90th minute of the pulsating match.
Cairo was a medical doctor turned politician and businessman. He was a high chief of Ndi Anioma Kingdom.
He was once a personal assistant to the late Chief Tony Anenih as Minister of Works from 1999 to 2001. He also served in an executive position at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
