Four armed robbers die in gun fight with police in Delta

A fierce gun duel between policemen and robbery suspects has left four of the latter dead at Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The armed robbery suspects were said to have been terrorising Isiokolo and environs in recent times before nemesis caught up with them on Monday through a crack team of policemen from Isiokolo Police Division.

Tribune Online gathered that the police, acting on a tip-off, and ably assisted by vigilance group, swooped on the robbers in Kokori town around 1:20 a.m after a major robbery operation in the area

The gun duel reportedly left three members of the vigilance group with gunshot injuries from the pellets of the criminals who lost four of their members to the superior firepower of the police.

While the remains of the suspects have been interred at Isiokolo, two locally made shotguns and 10 cartridges were allegedly recovered from them.

Meanwhile, acting Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Chuks Oresewezie, confirmed the story.

He said efforts were on to smoke out other fleeing members of the robbery gang.
