Baring unforeseen circumstances, the Nigeria Labour Congress will commence a nationwide strike on August 2,2023, over the removal of fuel subsidy and the recent increase in fuel pump price.
Though there is a subsisting court barring the congress from going on strike, our it was learnt that the congress believes should take action over the suffering of the people following the subsidy removal.
Recall that the Tinubu administration dragged the organised labour to court earlier in June to prevent a nationwide strike following the initial removal of the subsidy on petrol.
National treasurer of the NLC, Hakeem Ambali, qas quoted as saying, “Yes. We issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to conclude all negotiations with labour or face industrial action yesterday by the Central Working Committee.”
