Legendary Fuji artiste, Kolawole Rasak Ilori, better known as Kollington Anyila has debunked rumours of his death.
The 74-year-old musician on Tuesday addressed his health status at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos.
Kollington in short video, expressed gratitude to God, the management of the hospital and others for saving his life.
He disclosed that his health condition got so bad that he would have died but his life was saved by the medical practitioners in the hospital.
The veteran musician, said he used the video to show music fans that he is alive and healthy.
“All Lagosians, we thank you. We are using this medium to appreciate you. A lot of things that people don’t know about LASUTH, we want to show you, under the leadership of Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo.
“It is only God that can save a person but they really tried for me because I could have died but due to their efforts, I was saved,” the 74-year-old singer said.
He added: “I, Alhaji General Kollignton Ayinla, the leader of all Fuji musicians, I am the one speaking. A lot of people thought I was dead. But LASUTH, they are a king (in terms of treatment). I hail their efforts; you really tried. I thank our Governor, Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu. I appreciate your support. I also thank the Chief of Staff.”
Though Kollington is alive and well, he once shared his only regret with Vanguard Newspaper in an interview March 2021.
The celebrated artist said he wished he obtained a university degree.
He told the paper: “Many youths who have the opportunity to acquire university education but are taking it for granted, completely opting for music or sports, thinking fame and fortune is all there is to life only don’t know anything.
“I really have no regret being a musician but I regret that I don’t have university education. But thank God all my children are educated and some have even ventured into music; only that they are into hip hop. I may be privileged in another lifetime to go to university but not here on earth”.
