‘I Feel Like Lion Chasing Nigeria’s Enemies,’ Says New IGP

Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday, decorated Mr Kayode Egbetokun, as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The elated new IGP told State House correspondents,“I feel like a lion in me, ready to devour all the internal enemies of Nigeria. That’s my feeling right now,” after the short ceremony.

The VP performed the decoration alongside the wife of the new Police helmsman, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, barely 24 hours after a major shake-up in the country’s security leadership.

President Bola Tinubu moves to consolidate power came with a major sweep of the security agencies and appointment of new Special Advisers.

The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Monday evening announced the sack of the Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police.

The statement signed by Willie Bassey, Director, Information Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation indicates that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu is the new National Security Adviser. This is while Maj. Gen. C.G Musa is the new Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. T. A Lagbaja         is Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admirral E. A Ogalla is Chief of Naval Staff and AVM H.B Abubakar was appointed Chief of Air Staff. 

For the police,  DIG Kayode Egbetokun takes over asActing Inspector-General of Police and          Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye has been appointed Chief of Defense Intelligence.
