Ilebaye has emerged the winner of the Big Brother Naija (BBN) All Stars season. Ilebaye who was considered an outsider at the beginning of the season soon received overwhelming support due to what many perceived as her being bullied by more popular housemates.
From being considered as the weakest link to the favorite fans favourite, the Kogi-born, self- declared, Gen Z baddie beat five other housemates, Adekunle, Pere, Mecy, Cee-C and Cross to win the N120 million prize money and coveted crown of the winner of winners of all the seasons of the popular reality show.
Twenty housemates started the season, all from earlier episodes of the show participated, namely, Cee C, Mercy, Kiddwaya, Frodd, Pere, Angel, Neo, Alex, Tolanibaj, Cross, Seyi, Whitemoney, Uriel, Doyin, Princess, Soma, Ike, Ilebaye, Venita and Adekunle.
During the finale of the show which had music acts, Bnxn and Skales thrilling the live audience, Cross was the first of the six finalists to be evicted. Recall that Cross bought his way into the finals with Moniepoint coins.
Cross was followed by Pere and Adekunle leaving Cee-C, Mercy and Ilebaye in the House. It is the first time the top-3 housemates are female.
Speculations were rife about Mercy and Ilebaye being the most likely winners with Ilebaye being bookmakers choice.
This season described by show host Ebuka as the best ever had twists and new features like the short-lived jury of ex-BBN Housemates from past seasons and a parrot which caused fights each time it spoke. The season also saw sizzling rivalry between the fan groups of the housemates from the Mercinaries, to Baye’s Tribe, Adekunle’s Islanders, Pere’s Patriots, Angel’s Archangels and Cee-C’s Spartans. Some viewers described this season as toxic with many fights in the house and the opening of old wounds.
Nevertheless, the season also had some predictability with the forming of relationships called ‘ships’ like the fans prefer to call it, with special names created for the couple. Venita and Adekunle were inseparable, Angel and Soma were dubbed SomGel by their fans, while Pere formed a love triangle with his best mate Cross and Kim Oprah, who like Sholzy and Lucy came in as Big Brother’s guests. Pere ended up declaring love for Mercy Eke who once flirted with Whitemoney. The ship between Neo and Tolanibaj never took sail.
The prize money will be presented on Tuesday.
