Independence Speech: Ajulo Lauds Buhari, Urges Naming Of Terrorism Sponsors

Dr Kayode Ajulo, a legal practitioner,ย  has lauded President Muhammadu Buhariโ€™s Independence Broadcast to the nation, urging him to name all sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria.
The president in his broadcast on Nigeriaโ€™s independence at 61 on Friday, said: โ€‹โ€The recent arrests of Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Adeyemo (Ighogho) ,ย  andย  ongoing investigations being conducted, revealsย  certain high-profile financiers behind these individuals.

โ€œWe are vigorously pursuing these financiers including one identified as a serving member of the national assembly.โ€In a swift reaction, Ajulo, a former National Secretary of the Labour Party (LP)said that it had become imperative that sponsors of insecurity in our midst must be specifically identified.


He said the sponsors should be named, apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law.


The former LP chieftain also urged Nigerians to support the president in tackling security challenges nationwide.
โ€œWeย  need to name and deal with them accordingly,ย  within the ambit of law.
โ€œSince the inception of this administration, the citizenry has been assured of governmentโ€™s utmost attention to security, which the Federal Government has vigorously pursued.
โ€œWe need to be reassured,ย  hence the need to name and deal with terrorism sponsorsย  accordingly ,โ€ he said.โ€‹He saidย  security agencies must be assisted by all to dominate the nationโ€™s security space against invasion by terrorists and other criminals.
Reacting to theย  presidentโ€™s pledge to expand opportunities for more youths,’ Ajulo said:ย 
ย โ€œIt is also expected that youths must be engaged as there lies the present and future of the nation.
โ€œYouth interventionsย  shouldย  beย  all encompassing andย  a holistic engagement is urged,ย  as a solution to Nigeriaโ€™sย  security and economic challenges.โ€
The president in his broadcast said: โ€œThe youths of this great country remain propellants for our today and provide guarantees that we will have a secure tomorrow.
โ€œItย  is for this reason that I remain focused on expanding opportunities for their participation in politics and governance.
โ€œRecent appointments of young people into positions of authority and their track record so far, gives me confidence that we need to bring more of them into governance, and this I promise to do.”
