IPMAN denies report on reduction of PMS pump price

The leadership of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on Wednesday denied report on the purported reduction in the price of pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Sanusi Sari, IPMAN President via a statement issued by Ukadike Chinedu, IPMAN National Public Relations Officer, explained that such regulatory decision cannot be taken by the Association.

“The attention of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN has been drawn to comments by IPMAN National Controller, Operations, Mike Osatuyi on a RAYPOWER FM radio programme, FACT FILE on Wednesday morning that a decision has been taken to sell pump price at N140 from February 20 to 25, 2019.

“IPMAN National President, Sanusi Sari hereby refutes claims that it has reduced pump price of petrol to N140 from N145 to ease the pains of Nigerians over election postponement inconveniences.

“IPMAN National President, Sanusi Sari makes it clear that it has not and has no intention of taking any such decision without proper and adequate consultations with the regulatory government agencies.

“IPMAN has not received any correspondence from Petroleum Product Marketing Company (PPMC), the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) that pump price has been reduced or is to be reduced accordingly.

“Although IPMAN feels the pains of millions of Nigerians who felt disappointed and many who may end up being disenfranchised by the INEC’s sudden decision to reschedule the general election.

“We however have not reached any conclusion on pump price reduction recently and that the proponents of such information want to cause artificial scarcity of petroleum product.

“We commend the Federal Government and the NNPC for making petroleum products available all through the election period.

“We wish Nigerians well in their individual and collective efforts to perform their civic responsibility of voting on Saturday, February 23 in choosing their leaders, and however insists that the information making around is unfounded, null and void,” Ukadike said in the statement.
