…says Gov. Dickson will inaugurate Opume bridge next February
For the people of Opume community in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State, Christmas came early as one of their celebrated sons, Daniel Iworiso-Markson on Friday donated some bags of rice, a giant size cow and cash gifts.
The gesture according to him is to put smiles on the faces of his kinsmen who over the years have supported him and the Restoration Government of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
According to him, the Christmas season is a special time to show love to one another and reach out to those in need.
Iworiso-Markson thanked the people for believing in him and for standing by the government in the last seven years and assured them of better days ahead.
He said: “I decided to come and see my people today to start the christmas celebration with them. I feel so elated and I thank God for the opportunity. This is a season of love and it is important that we reach out to our people.
” It is also a way to appreciate the people of Opume community who have stood by me and have supported me in prayers since I came into government and that is why I am proud to have come from here. Opume is a great land and so blessed.
“They have also supported this government of His Excellency, Governor Dickson. You can see for yourself what in turn the governor has done for them. For many years the people have suffered because of the deplorable state of the bridge but today a new bridge has been delivered. As part of our seventh aniversary, we hope Governor Dickson will be here to inaugurate it”.
In his remarks, Chief Alfred Eto-Egesi, the chairman of Opume Council of Chiefs thanked Iworiso-Markson for his kindness and called on other leaders in the community to emulate him.
He said the people are proud of him and prayed God to continue to bless him with wisdom in his service to the government and people of Bayelsa State.
Iworiso-Markson was accompanied on the visit by members of the Ogbia Vibrant Women in Politics who had earlier paid him a solidarity vist and commended his passion for the development of Ogbia Kingdom.
