The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda is currently presiding over Monday’s plenary at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Meranda is presiding over plenary despite the presence of officials of the Department of State Services who had earlier sealed the chamber and office of the Speaker earlier in the morning.
The lawmakers had earlier forced their way into the chamber around 12:30 pm amid solidarity support from the assembly workers, but the workers later overpowered the DSS officials at the door.
The leadership tussle between ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Meranda remains a major topic in the polity.
