The police in Ogun State have arrested a 44-year-old man who alleged defilement of his neighborsโ six-year-old daughter.
Rafiu Moruf, the police said, was arrested on Monday after the victimโs mother knew about his alleged exploits on the minor.
Moruf, said to be living with his wife behind Aferiku Secondary School, Idiroko allegedly penetrated the child sexually leaving injuries in her private part.
In a statement by spokesman for the command Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the girl opened up to her mother after the latter noticed she was acting strangely.
โUpon close examination, the woman discovered semen inside the girlโs private part. She questioned the girl and she revealed that the suspect took her into his room and had canal knowledge of her.
โThe woman reported at the Idiroko Police station and detectives went to the suspectโs house where he was promptly arrested.
โOn interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime. The victim has been taken to hospital for medical treatment and report.
โThe Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human trafficking and Child labour Unit of the State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department (SCIID) for proper investigation and prosecution,โ Oyeyemi said.
