Head of service of the federation, Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita has sent a letter indicating her wishes to proceed on retirement to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Cable reports that Oyo-Ita’s action could be linked to calls from her family members for her to retire following media reports of her invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over abuse of office and an alleged N3 billion contract scam.
The Cable further reports that the Head of Service sent the President the letter on Sunday offering to proceed on retirement, even as Buhari is yet to take a final decision, with speculations that he will accede to her request to quit the federal civil service.
“Mrs Oyo-Ita has sent in her letter of retirement,” the online news portal quoted a family member as saying on Monday morning.
She was absent at the presidential retreat for ministers-designate, federal permanent secretaries and top government functionaries held at the state house conference centre in Abuja.
Recall that EFCC recently questioned Oyo-Ita over allegations that she used front companies to get contracts when she was a permanent secretary before her appointment as head of service by Buhari in 2015.
