NigeriaDecides: IPAC Backs INEC Chair’ Mahmood, Says Presidential Election Must Be Concluded

The Inter-Party Advisory Council of (IPAC) has called on INEC chairman Prof Yakub Mahmood to continue with the collation and announcement of results from Saturday’s presidential election.

IPAC opined that no election is perfect and aggrieved parties can seek legal redress. The chairman of the council, Yabagi Sani, said elections were held under difficult circumstances which affected INEC and the voters. They argued that INEC can review clear cases of electoral fraud but the process must be concluded.

National Chairman Zenith Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Dan Nwanyanwu, concurred with the IPAC chairman, saying, political parties will not support actions that could lead to a breakdown of law and order. Nwanyanwu said LP’s surprise wins are pointers to the level of transparency of the election..

IPAC representatives spoke live on TV during the resumed collation and announcement of results at the national collation centre.
