Old Girls Raise Funds For St. Ita Grammar School

Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world therefore, Knowledge is power and education empowers. 
This statement highlights the importance of education as an indispensable part of the development equation of all nations. 

It has an intrinsic value which extends far beyond economic issues.
It is also central to enhancement of human development.
Unfortunately, the data collected by the UN in its report depicts the situation as achievable but with certain challenges.

According to UNESCO’s Global education monitoring report 2017-2018, 264 million children, and youths are currently not going to school.
To meet the agenda of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals on education, quality education, inclusive and equitable quality of education to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030′ is essential, (SDG4).

Everyone has a role to play in improving the quality of education to meet Agenda 2030 including Governments, teachers, schools, parents and the students .
It is against this backdrop that the Old Girls of St Ita’s Girls Grammar School Sapele, Delta State came together to raise Funds for a Ceremonial hall to give the school which has been in existence for about sixty years a facelift.
At the foundation laying ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion and Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege pledged continued commitment in improving the quality of education in Delta state.
Senator Omo- Agege stressed that the education industry today is faced with many challenges which can be surmounted by adapting to new technologies that will leverage education as a tool for positive transformation and social rebirth.

The Senator who commended the Old girls Association for the laudable project considering the economic situation of the country explained that completion of the complex will be a major turning point for the school, students and staff.
Members from the Diaspora, the thirty-six states of the federation including the FCT were in attendance.
Highlight of the occasion was dedication of a pavilion built in honor of one of the old girls, late Patience Gbinije.
