Osinbajo, Tinubu Lead As Aisha Buhari Hosts Presidential Aspirants For Itfar

Despite the controversy which surrounded plans by the Nigerian First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, to host presidetial aspirants a number of them turned up on Saturday at the breaking of fast dinner hosted by the President’s wife.

When the invitation card to the dinner got leaked on social media, many Nigerians expressed misgivings about an instruction on the card asking aspirants which include governors and ministers not come with their phones.

Many of those who criticised Mrs. Buhari said such an instruction was strictly reserved for the President and his Vice, even as it sounded insulting to ask presidential aspirants to come for an informal event without their phones. Many Nigerians watched out to see those who would attend the dinner after the controversy.

Vice President Yemi Osinbao, National Leader of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Ebonyi State governor, Mr. Dave Umahi were among the aspirants who honoured the First Lady’s invitation.

Mrs. Buhari was obviously delighted that her dinner didnt end up a flop courtesy of the ealier contoversy. She expressed her joy in a Facbook post saying: “I hosted the Presidential Aspirants of all Political Parties to an Iftar (Breaking of Fast) at the State House yesterday.

“I thank all the Presidential Aspirants; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Minister of Labor, Dr. Chris Ngige, Mr. Jack Rich, Engr. Yabagi Sani, and Representatives of the VP, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, among many others that graced the Iftar.
