Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, days after his reinstatement as governor.
Speaking with State house correspondents after the meeting, Governor Fubara explained that his visit was a mark of respect to officially inform the President that he had resumed his duties following the lifting of his suspension on September 17.
โSince my suspension was lifted, it is only proper to see Mr. President, to thank him, and to seek his guidance on areas where necessary, so that we donโt find ourselves in any situation of crisis,โ Fubara said.
The governor described the meeting as a โfather-son discussion,โ noting that the President offered him advice on governance and how best to steer affairs in the state.
On the question of whether the peace achieved in Rivers State was sustainable or merely temporary, Fubara dismissed any fears of a relapse into political conflict.
โAs far as Iโm concerned, we have made peace. My father and his principal are working together. Rivers people should expect stability and progress,โ the governor assured.
Governor Fubaraโs visit comes amid renewed efforts by the Federal Government to foster harmony in Rivers State, following months of political tension in the state.
