Petr Cech to retire end of season

After 20 years as a professional, Arsenalโ€™s first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is set to retire at the end of the 2018/2019 English Premier League (EPL) season.

The 36-year-old who joined Arsenal in June 2015 from Chelsea announced this on his twitter handle @petrcech on Tuesday.

โ€œThis is my 20thseason as a professional player and it has been 20 years since I signed my first professional contract.

โ€œSo it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of this season,โ€ he tweeted.R

The Czech professional arrived England, signed for Chelsea from French Club Rennes in 2004 winning 13 trophies at the Stamford Bridge and FA Cup title in 2017 with the Gunners.

โ€œHaving played 15 years in the EPL, and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve.

โ€œI will continue to work hard at Arsenal to hopefully win one more trophy this season, then I am looking forward to seeing what life holds for me off the pitch,โ€ the tweet ended.

Arsenal under new manager Unai Emery is fifth-placed with 41 points from 22 matches this season.
