The member representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal constituency of Imo State, Rep. Chike Okafor, on Tuesday assured his constituents of effective representation.
Okafor, who was sworn-in on the first day of plenary, following the resumption of the House from its annual vacation also reiterated his commitment to defending the interests of his people.
“For my constituency, I told them I am going to be a strong voice and this is the major reason they voted for me overwhelmingly to come to 9th Assembly. To my constituents, I say, the strong voice is back. And I will continue to speak for ‘Okigwe South’, he said.

The former chairman House Committee on Health Services expressed gratitude to the judiciary, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Speaker Gbajabiamila-led leadership of the House.
He said: “I am happy. It is an exciting moment for me and I thank God. I also want to thank my party, especially its leadership and members of the National Working Committee, who stood by me during trying moments.
“You know what it means to win an election, collect the certificate- of- return, participate in the induction ceremony for members…….I was looking forward to the commencement of the 9th Assembly, and then from nowhere, issues that had nothing to with me and my party came up”.
“I thank God for the judiciary. Of course, we had to approach the Court of Appeal. Today, here we are. The rest they say is history. I thank the judiciary for remaining what they ought to be, the hope of Nigerians. I thank them for redressing the injustice” he added.
Recall that the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal in August restored the certificate of return issued Okafor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a member representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal constituency of Imo State at the House of Representatives.
In a unanimous judgment the appellant court set aside the April 29 order made by Justice Bello Kawau of the Kubwa division of the FCT High court directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Emeka Nwajuba as a member representing the federal constituency.
